Police Log: A Weekend With Some Bad Behavior in Benicia

Police managed get some out of town methamphetamine users off the street and deal with some drunks too.

Benicia Police officers continue to check out businesses and residences when the alarms go off.  Most of the time it is operator error but Benicians are lucky the police are there to check.  There was an arrest of a suspected drunk driver and a couple of people got popped for allegedly being drunk in public.

12:28 a.m.: A 27-year-old Rodeo woman was arrested on I-780 on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and a possible probation violation.

12:47 a.m.: An employee error resulted in an alarm activation on Columbus Parkway.

1:22 a.m.: A business on First Street called for officers when a woman tried to enter the establishment where she wasn’t wanted.  The woman was gone before officers arrived.

1:48 a.m.: A 26-year-old Vallejo man was arrested on suspicion of driving his car while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  The man got to spend the night in county jail.

2:52 a.m.: A resident of George Court thought a gun was fired in the area.  Police couldn’t find any evidence of a gunshot.

3:27 a.m.: A business on Southampton Road appeared secure when officers arrived after an alarm was activated.

1:42 p.m.: A 31-year-old man was arrested on Stone Road in the Industrial Park.  The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and also on an outstanding Missouri warrant where he was suspected of not returning an item he had rented.

2:56 p.m.: The owner of the suspicious vehicle on West H Street agreed to move the car.

3:22 p.m.: The suspicious vehicle parked on West Ninth Street was gone prior to officers arriving on the scene.

4:24 p.m.: There was an employee error that resulted in an alarm activation at a business on Sprig Street.

6:32 p.m.: All the loud noise from an apartment on Southampton Road had died down when officers arrived.

8:36 p.m.: There was a disturbance between neighbors on West K Street.

8:45 p.m.: The folks responsible for the loud music on East N Street agreed to turn the music down.

9:58 p.m.: Police are theorizing that the suspicious person spotted on Warwick was attending a Halloween Party nearby.

10:59 p.m.: Police arrested a 47-year-old Fremont man on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia as well as being under the influence of a controlled substance.  The police report did not state the controlled substance they thought the man may have been using.  He was arrested on East Second Street.

12:23 a.m.: The loud party on Cypress Court quieted dramatically after officers arrived.

12:47 a.m.: Police officers were unable to determine why an alarm went off at a business on Columbus Parkway.

2:06 a.m.: Two Vallejo women were arrested on East Fifth Street.  They are suspected of being drunk in public and disturbing the peace. 

2:11 a.m.: An employee at a business on Columbus Parkway failed to turn on the alarm correctly.

2:56 a.m.: A man reported that he was assaulted earlier in the evening while walking his dog.  Police have no suspects in the case.

2:56 a.m.: The guy hammering on stuff on West F Street agreed to stop for the night.

9:44 a.m.: There was an alarm malfunction on Industrial Way.

11:04 a.m.: Someone called police from a pay phone on East H Street.  There was no one in the vicinity of the phone when police arrived.

12:11 p.m.: Police officers began an investigation into the vandalism of a car on West Fifth Street.

3:38 p.m.: A 40-year-old Vallejo man was arrested on West K Street.  He is suspected of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

5:12 p.m.: Police were unable to locate the suspicious vehicle reported on Southampton Road.

6:31 p.m.: Officers responded to a family disturbance on Barton Way.  Things had calmed before officers arrived on the scene.

10:23 p.m.: There were a bunch of kids walking around on Capitol Street, making a resident nervous.  The kids were gone when officers arrived.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
