Police Log: Arguments and Found Wallets on Friday October 21

An IT problem at the Benicia Police Department kept us from posting the Friday Police Log on Saturday.

Surfers use duct tape as a temporary fix when their boards get dinged.  Some kids on Turner apparently thought to try the same strategy on the street and two different wallets were found a turned in to police.

12:59 a.m.: There was a malfunctioning alarm at a business on East Second Street.

2:07 a.m.: A resident of Channing Circle saw a man who appeared to be very drunk.  Officers were unable to find him.

2:26 a.m.: There was a family feud on Karen Drive.  One of the people in the argument had left by the time officers had arrived.

5:59 a.m.: An employee at a Stone Road business failed to deactivate the alarm in a timely fashion.

6:38 a.m.: A resident of Military East reported loud noises coming from the next door neighbor’s house.  Officers couldn’t hear the noise when they arrived but they did note the neighbor was just getting out of bed.

7:59 a.m.: A resident of Sandy Way was concerned about an unfamiliar vehicle parked overnight in front of their house.  Police found that the vehicle was not stolen nor was it parked illegally.

8:50 a.m.: Police found a mattress that had been illegally dumped near the water treatment plant.   Public Works took the mattress away.

9:48 a.m.: A resident on Helane Court reported their dog was missing.

10:00 a.m.: A residential alarm activation on First Street appears to have been a malfunction.

10:32 a.m.: A business on First Street reported some merchandise had been stolen.

11:05 a.m.: Officers had to separate family members on Clos Duvall who were involved in a family dispute.

12:00 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Cambridge.

12:11 p.m.: The suspicion person on Military East turned out to be an AT&T worker.

12:24 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Lori Drive.

1:16 p.m.: Officers couldn’t find anything wrong at a business on Columbus Parkway where the alarm was activated.

1:18 p.m.: Officers were unable to verify that the mail had been stolen from a mailbox on Sanborn.  They intend to follow-up on some leads.

1:54 p.m.: The warring customers at a business in Solano Square were given guidelines on appropriate places to have an argument.

1:59 p.m.: A resident of Turner Drive reported receiving a number of strange phone calls.  There were no threats but the person reporting the calls has decided to change their phone number.

2:29 p.m.: Those kids who were throwing fruits and vegetables at cars on East Second Street were found and their parents had to come pick them up.  Hopefully officers were able to explain the health benefits of eating your fruits and vegetables as opposed to throwing them.

2:34 p.m.: A homeowner on Cheryl Drive flunked “Turning off the Alarm 101”.

2:57 p.m.: A resident of Vista asked police to begin an investigation into identity theft.  Police are investigating.

3:37 p.m.: The guy who lost his wallet on First Street got a call from police after the wallet was turned in by an honest citizen.

4:08 p.m.: Those neighbors on Military East who were arguing about a dog had to be separated by officers.

5:39 p.m.: The kids who duct taped Turner Drive were gone when police arrived to talk to them.

7:11 p.m.: A resident on Carsten Circle reported fraudulent credit card charges had been made on their card.  Police began an investigation.

7:13: p.m.: A business on East Second Street appeared secure when officers arrived on the scene because of an alarm activation.

7:20 p.m.: A camera and accessories were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Abbey Court.

7:40 p.m.: A bike left unattended on West K Street was logged into the property room.

7:50 p.m.: The wallet found on West L Street was returned to its owner.

9:41 p.m.: There was an argument at a ball field on Rose Drive.  The person who started the argument left before officers arrived.

10:03 p.m.: There was a loud group of kids behind a Military West business.  The kids were asked to keep the noise down.

11:16 p.m.: The suspicious people in the car on Mills were just coming home from a football game and were discussing the outcome.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
