Police Log: Is Arguing Part of the Holiday Spirit in Benicia?

Officers had to respond to a lot of family disturbances this weekend.

There were fights and arguments a plenty this weekend in Benicia and the police were, in each case, able to diffuse the tensions and get the parties to separate.  On a happier note, the disappearing barking dog that has been missing from the police reports lately returned to town and frustrated residents on Durham.

7:21 a.m.: Police began an investigation into a burglary at a business on Park Road.

8:59 a.m.: A business in Solano Square reported they had received a bad check.

9:14 a.m. There was a non-injury traffic accident on Military East.

10:30 a.m.: A concerned citizen turned in some drug paraphernalia found in the vicinity of the high school.

1:06 p.m.: A good citizen on Larkin left four bags in front of his house for donation to a non-profit.  A bad citizen took the bags before the non-profit could collect them.

1:23 p.m.: There was anon-injury traffic collision in the parking lot in Solano Square.

1:40 p.m.: A citizen on Cambridge felt threatened by a telemarketer and called police.

3:05 p.m.: A resident of West L Street had a visitor he didn’t want and reported it to police.

4:31 p.m.: Officers were able to help an elderly resident find their way home from Windsor.

4:33 p.m.: An employee of a business on Park Road accidentally set off the alarm.

4:52 p.m.: There was a family dispute on Gallagher that resulted in a 911 call.   Officers were able to help the family find some equilibrium.

5:38 p.m.: A group of juveniles was acting inappropriately on East Fourth Street.  Officers were able to talk to the kids.

6:24 p.m.: Officers received a report of kids smoking some drugs.  The kids were not found.

7:50 p.m.: The guy found going into a storage yard on Park Road was an employee with a key.

7:52 p.m.: Police broke a group of people who were yelling at each other.

7:57 p.m.: Police got a cab for a man in Solano Square who was having some difficulties.

8:24 p.m.: There was report of an animal crying on Turner.  Officers were unable to find or hear the animal.

8:44 p.m.: The folks on West K Street who were yelling at each other were separated and sent in different directions by officers.

8:47 p.m.: The guys who were fighting in Solano Square fled the scene.

9:20 p.m.: The kids who were drinking alcohol on Military East were gone when officers arrived.

10:07 p.m.: The disappearing barking dog made an appearance on Durham.

10:37 p.m.: There was a verbal altercation on First Street.  The people involved were asked to separate and they did.

10:44 p.m.: A purse was fond near the bottom of First Street and was returned to its owner.

11:56 p.m.: A 20-year-old Oakland man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.

1:26 a.m.: Those people who were fighting on Military East were warned and sent on their way.

2:14 a.m.: An employee at a business on Military East accidentally set off the alarm.

4:45 a.m.: A brick was thrown through the window of a First Street business.

10:49 a.m.: Somebody set up a non-authorized speed bump on El Bonito.  Officers took the speed bump away.

11:19 a.m.: There was a family disturbance on East H Street.  Oficers took a report.

12:02 p.m.: A business in Solano Square reported a suspected shoplifter.  The suspect had returned everything and was warned about trespassing by officers.

12:29 p.m.: There was a loud compressor reported on Jackson Street.  Police were unable to locate it when they got there.

12:34 p.m.: Somebody lost their phone on West K Street.

2:06 p.m.: Officers gave advice to a resident on East L Street regarding a family issue.

2:34 p.m.: The 911 call from East B Street was an accidental pocket dial.

4:24 p.m.: A citizen on La Cruz wanted some advice regarding a family issue.

6:28 p.m.: A resident on Cambridge reported she received threats from an ex-boyfriend.  Officers began an investigation.

8:05 p.m.: A resident on Laurel received threats from a man who they met on line.  The man was contacted by police.

9:29 p.m.: A 36-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from domestic violence and vandalism charges.

9:43 p.m.: There was a verbal altercation between a man and a woman on West L Street.  The man agreed to leave for the night.

11:17 p.m.: A 21-year-old woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued in Pleasant Hill.

8:10 a.m.: Officers took a report about a loud party that happened the night before.

11:28 a.m.: Police took a report about a wallet lost on Southampton Road.

11:51 a.m.: There was an injured dog on Lake Herman Road.  Solano County animal control took care of the injured animal.

1:04 p.m.: There was an accidental activation of a residential alarm on Carlisle.

1:41 p.m.: Officers asked a resident on Fuchsia to turn down the music.

2:21 p.m.: Officers provided assistance to a parent who had a misbehaving child.

3:17 p.m.: A 43-year-old Vallejo man was arrested for a parole violation.

4:56 p.m.: A business alarm malfunctioned at a business on East Industrial.

5:26 p.m.: An officer was able to give a lift to an elderly person on East L Street who needed some help.

6:48 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the guy who was reported to be walking around in a box on Turner Drive.

6:51 p.m.: There were reports of a person driving on I 780 like they were drunk.  Officers couldn’t locate the car or the driver.

7:31 p.m.: A 46-year-old Benicia man was arrested for a parole violation.  Police suspect he was under the influence of a controlled substance too.

7:44 p.m.: There were reports of people smoking something illegal in the parking lot of Solano Square.  Officers couldn’t find anyone breaking the law.

11:20 p.m.: There was a disturbance on West L Street.  Officers were able to convince the arguing parties to leave each other alone.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
