Police Log: Vandalized Cars and a Sick Student

5:15 a.m.: A citizen taking an early morning walk reported the front door of a downtown business was standing open.  The business owner was contacted and came down to secure the door.

8:39 a.m.: A number of cars parked at a business on Adams Street were vandalized.

8:49 a.m.: A man following the directions provided by his GPS system drove through the gate at Valero without proper authorization.

9:45 a.m.: There was an injured raptor found on I-780.  Officers contacted the Lindsey Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek.  Museum staff came to Benicia and got the injured bird.

10:17 a.m.: A 51-year-old Benicia man was arrested for a probation violation.  He was taken to county jail.

10:44 a.m.: A dead squirrel was removed from the middle of Goldenslopes.

10:46 a.m.: Two people on East Seventh Street were arguing.  One person left before officers arrived.

11:33 a.m.: A resident on Riverhill was receiving unwanted phone calls.   Officers left a message for the person making the calls.

11:35 a.m.: Someone stole a box of notebooks from the front yard of a home on Rose Drive.

12:51 p.m.: A student on Military West thought to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs was actually ill.

1:30 p.m.: A 911 call made from a business on Industrial was a result of crossed wires.

7:00 p.m.: There was a business alarm activation on Egret in the industrial park.

10:23 p.m.: Two persons dressed in black near a tractor trailer rig on Industrial were making a delivery to a business.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
