Panther Baseball Going Deeper into Sac-Joaquin Baseball Tournament

Bohnet and Fellman combine for the win. Calhoun owned the hot bat in the first game.

Benicia ace Ryan Bohnet and sophomore closer Anthony Fellman combined to hold the Lincoln Fighting Zebras to four runs on seven hits while the Panther offense put up six runs.  Panther second baseman Willie Calhoun had a perfect day at the plate going three for three and a walk.

The Vallejo Times –Herald reports that Benicia has been in the Sac-Joaquin division III finals the past four years.

“Our boys came out and played well,” said Assistant Coach . “We’re a young team.  You could tell who had been here (the playoffs) before - Calhoun, Payne, Bishop - they led the team.”

The next game for the Panthers is Thursday in Sacramento against El Camino.  Asked how he’ll prepare the tem for the next game, Coach showed the confidence in his players he’s exhibited all year.

I don’t know much about them,” said Bowles.  “We’re going to do what we’re good at and make the other team adjust.”
