Canine Contests and Dog Disc Competition at Marina Green Saturday

Benicia will celebrate canines Saturday and yours is invited to join the party.

The City of Benicia was ranked the 4th dog-friendliest city in the country by Dog Fancy Magazine in 2010.   continues to celebrate this honor with the second annual “A Great Dog Day by the Bay” on Saturday, August 25th from 10am - 2pm at the First Street Green, located at First Street and East B Street.

This year, Benicia Main Street will again team with the Disc Dogs of the Golden Gate, offering a dog disc competition for dogs of all skill levels. For more info on Disc DoGG, visit www.discdogg.com.

Activities will also include a dog contest (ugliest dog, cutest dog and owner/dog look alike), doggie treats, demos, games, and more.  This event is free to the public and entry fee into the contest is $5 per dog and $1 per vote.  A portion of proceeds benefits the Humane Society of the North Bay. Dog-related non-profit groups will be in attendance to educate on their organizations, including Humane Society of North Bay, Golden State Greyhound Adoption, Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary, Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), and Solano Friends of Animals. Other vendors offering dog-related items, include Feather Pet Supply of Benicia, Pet Food Express Benicia, The Pet Shoppe of Vallejo, Stop N’ Paws, and Prissy Pup Petwear.
